Description: Also known as Alkanet, this historical perennial is a favourite of bees and butterflies. Plants form upright stems of coarse and hairy light-green leaves. Short sprays of rich royal-blue bell-shaped flowers appear during late spring and early summer. Regular deadheading should encourage more buds to be produced. Best in full sun, this prefers a cool summer climate. Although short-lived generally, plants often self sow and continue to come back for many years. This particular selection is fairly tall and will probably require staking or some other support. Good deer resistance.

Deadheading is unnecessary as the plants are "self-cleaning". A tender perennial, it is dormant during a normal southeast Texas winter, and evergreen during a mild one. When frost is expected, mulch the roots well and cover the plant with a blanket or frost-cloth.

'Sugar Baby' and 'Molimba Mini's' are sensitive to PGRs and should be regulated with caution. Low light, tight spacing and wet foliage will lead to disease. Molimba Mini varieties should need little to no PGR's. -Requires long day conditions or very highlight to flower.
